Saadiyat Beach Golf Club Nominated for Six Megas

Gary Player Invitational

ABU DHABI, UAE (November 11, 2015) – Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is gearing up for a bumper 2016 but hope to claim a few more domestic headlines this year before famed course designer Gary Player brings his international charity golf series to Abu Dhabi.

The Troon Golf-managed club, which is to host the Gary Player Invitational in conjunction with Black Knight International and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council on February 8, 2016, has been named a finalist in six categories for the 3rd annual Middle East Golf Awards (MEGAs).

It comes hot on the heels of Saadiyat Beach Golf Club being named the best course in the United Arab Emirates at the 2nd annual World Golf Awards held recently in Algarve. The World Golf Awards serve to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world class courses and golf destinations, providing an extension to the highly-regarded World Travel Awards. Full details can be found at

To be hosted at a glamourous black tie dinner in Dubai on December 17, the MEGAs will again celebrate the Middle East’s world-class golf industry and recognise the very best of an elite workforce which delivers not only pristine courses across the region, but also service judged on par with anything globally.

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club has again been named as a finalist in the prestigious Best Golf Course above AED 500 (green fee) category while the fifth hole on the beach-front course, a picturesque, water-guarded par four which doglegs down towards the Arabian Gulf, has been nominated for Golf Hole of the Year.

In a bow to the club’s combined golf, F&B and non-golf events prowess, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club has been named a finalist in the Best Overall Club Experience category. It is also in the running for Corporate Tournament of the Year (The Gourmet Golf Experience), the Best Golf Academy and Golf Course Maintenance Team of the Year titles.

Scott McCaw, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s Director of Golf Operations, is particularly proud of the club’s nomination in the Best Overall Club Experience category, which like the Best Golf Course above AED 500 and Golf Hole of the Year classification, will be decided by public vote.

McCaw hopes members and guests will continue to show their support for the club, designed by nine-time major champion Gary Player, via Voting opens today, Wednesday November 11, and runs until December 15.

“We are always looking to the future, always striving for improvement at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and the Gary Player Invitational in February is an example of the type of world class events and experiences we look to provide for our members and guests,” McCaw said.

“But the MEGAs recognition is most welcome as we look back on a successful 2015. It is a reflection of the tireless passion of a talented group of professionals who live the Troon Golf ethos of proving the very best service on and off our wonderful Gary Player designed course.

“We congratulate all the other finalists, look forward to a wonderful night among our peers on December 17 and to getting back to work and ensuring Saadiyat Beach Golf Club continues to exceed expectations in 2016 and beyond.”
